Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.
We are Julia and Seth, and we’re partners in life, for life! 🙂
The big reason we’ve created this site is because we love to learn through traveling, and because we love to share with others what we’ve learned.
We believe it is this learning and sharing process that makes the world a more understanding, caring and peaceful place.
From urban hiking, to multi-day backpacking trips, to food exploration, to SCUBA diving to the depths of the ocean, to immersing ourselves in cultures and places that are FAR outside of our comfort zones, we both love adventure travel, and we both love learning and sharing about local culture so others can confidently craft their own off the beaten path travels too!
We are minimalists, so when we travel, we like to travel light, we like to take only photos (and often only memories) and leave only footprints. And above all, we like to blend in with the local culture so we can experience something different from what we’re used to, and then, grow from it!
So, why is this blog called For Something More?
In a sentence, it’s because when we travel, we’re always in search For Something More than simply sight seeing and merely looking at a place. We are always in search For Something More than observation. We are always seeking experiences.
The sharing we do will help you…
–avoid tourist traps
–access the essence of the places we go
–adventure and eat like locals
Often, this means we opt for the local-experience over the luxury one. And it also means we seek to experience foods, local rhythms and facets of a culture that a local would consider to be a part of their usual day to day routine.
We are those people who prefer “hole-in-the-wall” eating spots, the ones that never make it into the tour books/guides but that are PACKED with local folks at mealtimes and deliver DELICIOUS and affordable food.
We are those people who prefer to randomly stop on the side of the road in Sri Lanka and help some farmers harvest their rice patty.
And we are those people who like to backpack through rural Bosnia and Herzegovina for the chance to experience lifestyles that are far different than our own.
And why do we do all of this?
We travel because we love to learn, and because we love to share with others what we’ve learned. We believe it is this learning and sharing process that makes the world a more understanding, caring and compassionate place. With this in mind, it is always our aim to provide you with the information and inspiration you need to craft you own off the beaten path adventure travel experiences, so that you too can carry on that learning and sharing process!
