    We’re well aware that, from the outside, we might We’re well aware that, from the outside, we might look a little crazy. 😂🥾 We’ll drag ourselves up mountains, complain that our legs hurt, wonder why we thought this was a good idea… and then somehow, before we’ve even made it back to the car, we’re talking about where we should hike next. But hiking has become such a big part of who we are as a family. From the mountains of Poland 🇵🇱 to the trails of Utah 🇺🇸 and everywhere in between, some of our favorite memories have been made simply putting one foot in front of the other. It’s where our kids have learned that they can do hard things. Where we slow down, talk, explore, get muddy, get tired, laugh at ourselves and experience some pretty incredible corners of the world together. Do we occasionally question all of our life choices halfway up a mountain? Absolutely. Will we be back on another trail next weekend? Also absolutely. 😂🥾⛰️ Can you relate?     Want to turn an ordinary walk into a real-life tre Want to turn an ordinary walk into a real-life treasure hunt? 🗺️🌲 That’s basically what geocaching is—and it’s one of our favorite ways to get kids excited about being outside. Using GPS coordinates and clues, you search for hidden containers called geocaches. They can be hidden almost anywhere—from forests and hiking trails to parks and even cities—and some are VERY cleverly disguised. 🔎 We went geocaching at the Bismarck Arboretum in North Dakota, and what could have been a simple walk through the trails quickly became a mission to track down the hidden caches. 🙌 When you find one, there’s usually a logbook inside where you can add your name. Some larger caches also contain little trinkets that you can trade—take something, leave something! The best part? Kids barely notice how far they’re walking because they’re too busy searching for the next “treasure.” 😂 If your kids need a little extra motivation to get outside, give geocaching a try.     One of the most underrated ways to experience Nort One of the most underrated ways to experience North Dakota? 🚵‍♀️ Mountain biking! Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park in Mandan might be best known for its history, but its trails are an adventure all on their own. With rolling prairie, scenic overlooks, winding singletrack, and sweeping views of the Missouri River Valley, it’s an incredible place to explore on two wheels. And the best part? The brand-new library is immersive, interactive and surprisingly engaging for kids. Even better for an outdoor family like ours: it connects Roosevelt’s story to the Badlands and the conservation legacy that still influences the wild places we explore today. 2️⃣ Explore Theodore Roosevelt National Park 🦬 The South Unit is just minutes away. Drive through the Badlands, hike a trail and keep your eyes open for bison, prairie dogs and other wildlife. This is the landscape that helped shape Roosevelt’s love of the outdoors. 3️⃣ Explore downtown Medora 🤠 Slow down and actually wander around town. Check out the historic buildings, shops, food and little pieces of Old West history scattered throughout Medora. 4️⃣ See the Medora Musical 🎶 This outdoor show has been a Medora tradition for generations, with music, dancing, live horses, variety acts and a fireworks finale. And this year’s show features music ranging from Dolly Parton to disco—a particularly meaningful detail right now as people around the world remember Dolly and her incredible legacy. ❤️ 5️⃣ Watch the sun set over the Badlands 🌅 After everything else, head back outside. There’s something pretty special about ending the day watching the Badlands change color as the sun goes down.     The Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library was on The Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library was one of our favorite stops in the North Dakota Badlands. We loved how it connected Roosevelt’s life, conservation legacy and love of the outdoors to the landscape around Medora. The interactive exhibits also kept our 5- and 7-year-olds engaged.     Why should an outdoor family put a presidential li Why should an outdoor family put a presidential library on their North Dakota itinerary? 🏛️🥾 Because Theodore Roosevelt’s story is also a story about the outdoors! 🌻 Long before our kids could tell you much about presidents, they understood national parks, wildlife, hiking and the idea that wild places are worth protecting. That’s what makes the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library such an interesting stop for families like ours. Here, history connects directly to something our kids already know and love: being outside. Roosevelt’s experiences in North Dakota helped shape his relationship with the natural world, and conservation would become an important part of his presidency.     Watching these clips back is kind of wild. 🚲 We s Watching these clips back is kind of wild. 🚲 We started our boys on balance bikes when they were about 18 months old. Back then, “riding” mostly meant waddling around with two feet on the ground and occasionally falling over. 😂 But that was exactly the point. They weren’t learning how to pedal yet. They were learning the hardest part of riding a bike: balance. Over time, walking became scooting. Scooting became gliding. Gliding became confidence. And when they were ready for pedals, the transition happened surprisingly naturally—without needing training wheels. Now, at 5 and 7, they’re riding mountain bikes, tackling trails, climbing hills, navigating rocks and roots, and going places on two wheels that would have seemed impossible when we handed them those tiny balance bikes. If there’s one thing we’ve learned along the way, it’s this: 👉 Start with a properly sized balance bike. 👉 Let their feet stay comfortably on the ground. 👉 Don’t rush pedals. 👉 Keep riding fun instead of turning it into a lesson. 👉 Give them lots of opportunities to ride. 👉 Progress based on confidence and ability—not age. The goal was never to make them the fastest kids on bikes. It was to help them become confident, capable kids who genuinely love being outside on two wheels. This summer reminded us that you don’t have to travel farther to experience something unforgettable. Sometimes you just have to look where fewer people are looking. We love them. But adventures are different. They’re the hikes that go a little longer than planned. The creek crossings. The wrong turns that become the best stories. The scraped knees, muddy shoes, and “I did it!” moments. That’s where confidence grows. That’s where resilience is built. That’s where memories stick. The destination matters less than what they discover along the way—especially about themselves. As the temperature finally eased, we followed a winding path up a nearby hill, hoping we’d found a good spot for sunset. While we waited, the kids gathered little stones to make their own rock art, we spotted a tortoise slowly making its way through the brush, and people quietly found their own places to sit. It wasn’t empty, but it felt peaceful—everyone there seemed to be soaking up the same golden moment. Then the sun began to set, and the Acropolis lit up in the most beautiful warm light. It was one of those travel moments that makes you forget about the climb.     Every parent hopes they’re giving their children w Every parent hopes they’re giving their children what they need to thrive. For some families, that’s a traditional classroom. For ours, it’s a life filled with movement, curiosity, and experiences that can’t always be measured. We don’t worldschool because we think it’s better. We worldschool because it’s the life that feels most aligned with the family we’re becoming. Yes, we want our kids to work hard and build successful futures. But we also hope they never lose their sense of wonder. That they’re brave enough to try new things, kind enough to listen to different perspectives, and curious enough to keep learning long after the lessons are over. Because at the end of the day, we’re not just preparing them for a career. We’re preparing them for a life.     Everyone told us to visit the Greek islands… but w Everyone told us to visit the Greek islands… but we took our kids (5 & 7) somewhere hardly anyone was talking about instead. 🇬🇷 That place was Pelion—and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. With charming mountain villages, calm beaches, family-run tavernas, scenic hikes, and some of the friendliest people we met, it felt like we discovered a different side of Greece.     One day, our children will tell the story of their One day, our children will tell the story of their childhood. We’re doing our best to make it one worth telling. Not because every day is perfect.     🥹There’s something about almost missing an importa 🥹There’s something about almost missing an important event that makes you appreciate every single moment so much more. I’ll be honest, I was pretty anxious leading up to this trip. There was so much uncertainty, and we didn’t know until the last minute if we’d actually be going to Israel. When everything finally came together, it felt like such a gift. We got to celebrate my sister-in-law’s wedding, spend quality time with family, and create memories I know we’ll treasure for years to come. From beautiful places and incredible food to long conversations, laughter, and celebrating love, this trip was filled with the kind of moments that remind you what really matters.     Everyone has a picture of Greece in their head—whi Everyone has a picture of Greece in their head—whitewashed villages, blue domes and crowded island streets. But this is Greece too. A slower, quieter side where tiny fishing villages, hidden sea caves and crystal-clear water are just part of everyday life. One of our favorite days was exploring this coastline by boat with @pelionscout It felt welcoming from the moment we stepped on board, we learned so much about the area, and it was such an easy adventure with the kids too.
